Refreshing and low in caffeine, Houji cha tea is less intense than green tea, but with a slightly toasted aroma. It is perfect to accompany your meals or as refreshment after dinner. Roasting tea leaves reduces their caffeine index and also gives to the beverage its amber color.

A REAL INFUSION
There are two ways to make bottled tea infusions: using infusion concentrates or “intense infusion” mixed with fruit juices or flavors, and sweetened with sugar or sweeteners, fruit and sugar flavors or sweeteners, as do many brands called “infusions” , or preparing a direct tea leaves infusion just before bottling.
To prepare Umaicha, we use this last process that allows to preserve the authentic aroma of fresh tea leaves, to obtain a drink that tastes like real tea and not like sweetened fruit drink.
THE SELECTION OF TEA LEAVES
the tea leaves have a different flavor according to the time of their harvest. For Umaicha, we mainly use a selection of leaves from the first harvest, named“Ichiban-cha”, which have had less exposure to the sun. This allows to reduce their bitterness, and to obtain a soft and refreshing drink without having to sweeten it.
Our tea leaves come from the Kagoshima province in southern Japan, a region known for the high quality of its tea leaves.
PREPARED IN JAPAN BY TEA MASTERS
The taste intensity and bitterness of a tea drink depends on the time and temperature used during the infusion process. Umaicha is prepared in Japan by tea and plant infusion experts, with the support of centenary tea houses and their masters. We have developed Umaicha with them , using infusion parameters that allow to extract the tea leaves flavor without obtaining a bitter drink.
